My thought it was a hen is crowing.

I am considering downsizing the non egg layers out of my flock, since I saw my white Leghorn crowing alongside my rooster this morning, should I consider him for the fry pan?

If you don't want another rooster, then it might be a good idea to slaughter the White Leghorn (though, being small birds, you won't get much meat off of him). If you have more than twenty hens, though, you could probably keep two roosters together, and not have to kill one of them.

I've always read that as long as you have enough hens that roosters can live happily with each other.
