My Gold Phoenix Hen , as far as I was concerned was not laying, not all that odd as she lays then stops for a couple weeks and with our odd cold, wet weather I figured she was done for the year.
My husband uncovered her "stash" a total of 14 eggs, since the bator was plugged in I stuck them all in, I candled at about 10 days and 10 eggs were developing, then I got busy and seriously forgot about the bator. I checked the other night , candled and 10 were still ok, but I still forgot to put any water in it. I even forgot to write down when I put them in. Friday nite hubby heard peeping and on was hatched and a few others were pipped and/or zipped. Out of the 10 developed 8 babies hatched, one died so we have 7 Gold or BBRed Phoenix Chicks. I did have to help the last one, as he was shrink wrapped but for 10% humidity most of the incubation and me having to heat up the hatcher quickly it was over all pretty good.
