um, jersey, it isnt bot fly, bot fly larvae are imbedded in the skin and he clearly stated in the first post that the VET removed the maggots, as in black soldier fly or house fly maggots, that were in the skin folds, not actually in the skin, the vet has taken care of his maggot problems he needs to know what to do to keep the flys off.
My advice is the same as a few others, your two best options are sevins dust, which can be found at Lowes fairly cheap in a can for dusting, just make sure it is the gardening kind, that way you know it is food grade, we use it on our birds for mites. Option number two is Diotomacious Earth or D.E. it is great. It could also help you with your fly issues, I use it in my outdoor trash can, sprinkle it in muddy areas to help keep smells down and duct some of the pens with it when there arent birds in them, it wont hurt the birds at all it is just very dusty and you dont want them inhaling large amounts or getting it in their eyes, it is recommended that you use a dust mask with both sevins and DE and you should also use eye protection, you do NOT want that dust in your eyes! Trust me.... I know..... I learned the hard way.... no fun at all. Any who, good luck with Mr. Turkey Two, hope he feels better soon.
