Yesterday I got six bantam d'Uccles millefleur from My Pet Chicken through USPS. These are my first maiked chicks. They were shipped Monday so their transit was short. They really appear to be 1-2day old chicks. They got here nice and warm but all were very tired and we left them to rest except for showing them their water.

This morning six of them are awake and lively running around and getting drinks except for one who is huddled down with its eyes closed. I picked it up and it wasn't very responsive and never opened its eyes. Its butt is clean. So should i separate it?

Is it appropriate to give it some nutridrench? Some vitamins? Sugar water? Should i rinse its eyes too? I can't decide if its sick or immature.

I am open to every idea. I t drop water on its beak and it took it in.

Some chicks are not meant to make it. There is something wrong with them when they hatch. There may not be much you can do.

The water on the tip of its beak was a good idea. Instead of water I use hummingbird liquid as it is full of sweet energy. You can mix some sugar in the water for an energy boost. You can also buy electrolytes at the feed store. The idea is to give it something to give it energy. It needs energy to be able to eat and drink on its own.

Put the water on the tip of its beak so it drinks it. Do not put liquid down its throat, you can drown it.

And keep it warm.

Good luck. Sometimes it woks, sometimes it doesn't.

Thank you. I do understand it might not make it but i want to give it a chance. We have hummingbird nectar that we mix in big batches so i will use that for now.

The nectar as suggested by @Ridgerunner is a good idea.
If you have Poultry Nutri-Drench, I would also give 1-2 drops direct dose to see if that helps as well.

I hope your baby perks up.

Last night i gave her some nutridrench and early this morning hubby said he couldn't tell which chick she was. He took the ine he thought it was and gave her sugar water. All of them are exploring he says. I'll be going out to doctor her with nutridrench in a few minutes. So far, okay.

Oh Good! It sounds like she's perked up :)
