My two hens scare the younger chickens!

This might be the wrong place to put a question like this but I'll ask anyways.

So I have 2 older hens (1 Rhode island red and 1 black australorp) the Rhode island red raised all of our younger chickens while our australorp raised a duckling. When the chicks got old enough to go on their own they started getting afraid of our older hens. How to I stop them from being afraid of our older hens. Is this a loss cause?
