I have two almost full grown turkeys that im 98% sure are toms and I let them roam around the yard with my hens and 1 cochin rooster during the day. I have 2 potential problems and one annoyance.
1. I sometimes see them starting to gang up on my tiny but feirce rooster. If I dont brake it up they eventually stop pecking at him and he stops lunging feet first at them and they move on about their business and no one actually gets hurt. Im wondering weather this will get worse or deadly for the rooster or turkeys as the turkeys fulley mature. They have there own coup to go in at night but I like to let them all out during the day. Ive seen the rooster fight all out with another rooster and he can be relentless and deadly but he has not gone all out with the turkeys yet and the turkeys could probably really hurt him too because of their size and the fact that there are two of them. Is this a bad idea to have them together ever unsupervised? Its the turkeys that pick the fights.

2. I only have 2 turkeys and they are both males . They are best friends and ive never seen them fight. Thry eat sleep and foriage together and get allong great. Will they continue to get allong even when they are full grown? They are close to but not quite full grown. There are no female turkeys to fight over but I do have chicken hens. Will they begin fighting because of them?

My turkeys are extremely friendly and fallow me around and are used to my dogs which is great but they have this annoying habit of pecking the dogs toenails. It startles the dogs and sometimes they snap back at them. Not actually making contact bat as a warning. But this only excites the turkeys and makes them want to do it more! They also peck at my fingers, rings and bracelets and it was cute when they were littler but its a little frightening and painfull. They are very nice otherwise but it really gets old when every time I feed them or am just sitting outside these enormous birds start pecking me. Swatting them away only encourages them to do it more. Smetimes i just have to take off all my jewelry and they still peck my fingers sometimes. And its not just a peck sometimes they hold on and shake their heads back and forth like a dog! Is their any way to discourage this behavior? It makes my husband not like them (they get him too) and it terrifies children. I love my turkeys and they are really nice otherwise im just hoping someone could give me some ideas on how to stop this obnoxious behavior. They will soon be even bigger and stromger and its getting scarry.

Any advice would be very appreciated! Im new to turkeys and am enjoying them a lot but im a little lost on a few things. Thanks!

If they are Broad Breasted Bronze, I regret to inform you that they are not meant to be pets. they are meant to be dinner in about 18 weeks of age. They grow so big so fast they are prone to bone problems and organ failure. They get so big they cannot breed. they have to be artificially inseminated to reproduce. I raised BBB for meat a few times. They are great friendly turkeys. But you're not doing them a favor to allow them to live past the age of their intended purpose. I am now raising heritage breed turkeys. Bourbon Reds. I have 10 poults. Five from different parents than the other five. I am going to keep a unrelated trio as pets and breeding purposes. If you want to keep turkeys as pets choose a heritage breed. There are many different colors and varieties. They can breed, so you can have little ones every spring.
