Well a friend of mine needed a simple coop built for some free range hens. I have larger shed style coops on my property for layers so I looked up the purina plan and made some changes. Here's what I have so far after 2 days of building. Have to paint the outside barn red. Install 1x4 trim and paint white. Finish up roof on the nest boxes. And install all doors; nest box, clean out and front door. And build the front ramp.

Got some more work done today. Still need to make all the doors and mount all the hardware. Hopefully just one day left on the build. Only tomorrow will tell.

Nice Job!!

Where did you get that window, what are the rough opening dimensions? I assume that it's operable?

aart - the window doesn't open. It is being used solely for letting light in the coop. I purchased it at the local Restore which is a store by Habitat for Humanity. Window cost a wopping 12 dollars. Its roughly 12x35". I frequent the store often as they have very cheap price materials thats are almost always brand new. My personal layer coop has numerous Huge windows that open that are Anderson windows. lol. They were also very cheap.

Thanks, I was just at a restore looking for small awning type windows ....they didn't have any, very few operable windows in fact. What you have there is the perfect size for my build, but I need it to open. Will end up making them I'm afraid, cant afford new.

Yeah I find that it's real hit or miss there. I always try to stop by once a week to see what's new.
