My very first babies are here! Pics! UPDATE on post # 11

You are all so nice to cheer the new fluffy babies--thank you all so much.

I do have a little bad news--we had one pass away. The Ameracauna, Eunice, died this morning. She was never as "piggy" as the rest (Hyacinth, the BLRW is a bulldozer) yet she showed no obvious signs other than not being as gregarious and her crop was never as full as the rest. She didn't have a pasty bum but I noticed her acting weak, fluffed out and an empty crop this morning. She had some poo by her bum but her vent was not blocked--in fact it was soft green and white. All is well with the others, the brooder, food, water, heat, you name it I checked it--two and three times. I suspected she ate some shavings but they all picked at them. I sprinkled some chick grit by their food this AM (after she passed) in case that had anything to do with it. The chicks nearly ran on top of each other to get some! Tonight--eating, food in crops (although nothing was like day one--I swear Hyacinth looked like two chicks). Active, preening the feathers popping out. Sigh.

was this just a failure to thrive or do you have any other ideas?
