Hey Theressa, what kind of wire do you have on your tractor? Is that 1"? Dh is making our tractor right now - a bit larger, but the same design, with the lift-up roof. Your chickens sure look happy

(puppies too!)

its a 2x2 inch heavy wire, i also had goten the U shaped fencing nails.........those were a pain in the rear to use. I ended up just using regular nails and bending them over the last bit.

They do seem to really like it, that is my first buff orpington roo that i got about 3 yrs ago. I am hopping to get some pure eggs from them here shortly so that his legacy can live on.

good quesstion!!!

Ok, the chickens scratch the yard.....Dethatching the grass, they eat the grass.......mowing the yard, and they poopies......fertilizing the yard. It is also mobile and moved on a daily basis to keep them over fresh grass/ground.

I love this design, and I think it would be really practical for us. I have a friend that is willing to give us 2 silkies, and I think eventually that I'd like to have no more than 4 chickens total.
So I have some questions about your design.
Firstly, do you have the plans or measurements for it that you could share??? That would make it much easier for those of us that are not so tool inclined...
Also, does the coup have a door on it to prevent predators from entering the coup while they are roosting? We live on 22 acres attached to state park, and there are 2 foxes (one of which hangs out in the field out back and is FAT) and I've seen coon prints, and we have hawks and owls, so I've got to be very predator leary. I suppose if it doesn't have a locking door that could be easily remedied.
I am also concerned about predators digging underneath. Do you have any prevention for that with this coup or is it just hope that they don't get noticed??

Thanks! I love this design, its very cute and clean looking!
