My very first hens

Hi to all,

Two days ago, I picked up 10 organically raised RHode Island Red from our farmer and food provider who is scaling down. It is a great feeling to get up in the morning and walk 40 feet to get your fresh eggs! Here is a pic of our daugther picking up fresh eggs.

I know how you feel!! But, Right now I have a hen with a broken leg...I splintered it and she is doing well although her boyfriend keeps attacking me!!!

Hey, howdy, from California! So very glad you joined BYC. We are the poultry-ist people you could ever find!

I didn't get into keeping chickens for their eggs, but I sure do appreciate their daily gifts to me! I couldn't ever eat store bought eggs again, and I find it very hard to order any egg dishes in restaurants now.
