Hi all,

Is it okay if i start this thread about my first hatch? I'd like to post some updates from time to time so you guys can follow along. The eggs are resting out of the fridge since this morning so they can already warm up a bit before going into the incubator and i will be setting them in about 2-3 hours when my girl comes home from school. Do I need any other preparations before setting them?

The incubator is calibrated at egg height. It is a forced air incubator, but i do see differences in temperature at different heights in the incubator. It's stable in temperature and humidity for 2 full days now, so i guess that's ready to go.

I still have a question regarding candling. When you candle the eggs, do you take the egg rack out and leave the incubator closed while you candle them all before they go back in? Or do you open the incubator to get an egg and close it back up with the other eggs still inside waiting their turn?

Day 5: first time candling! Only 2 of the 30 eggs weren’t growing. I’m giving them a few more days before i toss them.

There was one egg that has the air chamber on the side, what are your expriences with this?

I have a goose egg with the air bubble on the side incubating and it has been fine so far it’s on it’s 25 day

Today was day 7, my daughter came home from school after spending the weekend with her dad, so we did some candling again. Still the same 2 clears, the rest of them seems to be doing well, i see movement in a lot of them already... :yesss:

These are the clears, what to do? Still leave them in for a few days or discard?

I had a Cream Legbar egg with the airsac on the side and even though it developed and was alive by lockdown, it didn't hatch.
I've heard stories of embryos with air sacs on the sides hatch so don't be discouraged.
