my very own micro farm

Mmmm Turkey....just delivered a hoop coop for the turkeys I will be getting fresh in a month or so.
that's wonderful, im getting really excited as the holiday approaches. These will be the biggest animals I've butchered and they seem to be bulking out more everyday. Will be raising more next year for sure.

Been raining buckets since Thursday nonstop. The storm is scheduled to hit the afternoon. We are hunkering down.

Was wondering how you were, when someone mentioned they were worried about the weather yesterday I laughed and mentioned you being in the thick of it, like they would even know you from Eve, but it still came out. Hope all is well with your family, and stay safe.

Best part is I don't have to slaughter them, was part of barter for coop.
Will butcher them into parts before freezing......
......was wonderful last year to have turkey parts in the freezer to pull out and grill or roast or whatever.
I have a feeling it's gonna get messy

the plan for the 3 is one for each side of the family and the third will be left overs, theres just never enough leftovers these days, kinda funny to think that's pretty much were this turkey thing started for me.
Hahhaha

Yesterday turned out to be rather interesting. Two birds with one stone and all that, I've been mulling over letting my kelso hens out to free range with the rest of the birds. The dilemma being their penned cock was Hermes my game rooster what went lumpy after the Marek's hit. That wasn't the first time he'd been teamed up on while weak and unfortunately wouldn't be the last had he been aloud to wander free with the others. So in a decisive moment his life came to an end. No more suffering, no isolation. The gate was opened and the 3 proud mothers slowly came out with their single little cockeral, the last testament to Hermes life, a single male offspring to spread the seed.

Sounds like u have been busy my man. Keep ur head up and keep moving forward. U can always rebuild. Right now I'm tearing down four of my coops to rebuild them nicer. Have a wonderful day

On the wake of a pretty epic thunderstorm last night one of the new hens has the tale tell exasperated squawk of Marek's onset. Who knows, maybe she'll survive it like the other big girl has.

So I've been collecting green onion clippings from work for a while now.
400

There's more random boxes scattered around too. The idea was to start seeding the outside of my fence line with green onions when it started to get wet. Well it's been raining ad the onions are looking ready to be tossed out.
