Good morning. Here's a nice silhouette of a crane that is currently tormenting my turkeys.

At post it is pacing the top of the fence between the duck and turkey enclosure and my dang cat won't leave it be.

I'd have never thought of them as being poultry predators, but they are indeed carnivorous.

thanks got a few good ones and it came back for some close ups.

I just changed the water the night before so possibly just a fresh drink but who knows what it would have grabbed if hungry enough. Big fella that's for sure.

Though the Marek's seems to have slowed down in its rampage through my flock there are still a few of those visibly affected. The last of the feral chicks for instance started looking a little droopy the other day. She seems to be the only young one that looks adversely affected so far.
Speaking of death, my turtle went all cannibal on his tank mates. The half dozen gold fish I dropped in there over the summer had all gotten quite large, they are now reduced to one. Apparently that's a thing if there's not enough space. Guess he doesn't play around.

More to the day but I'm off to another double.

Funny story, got home last night and I'm pretty sure I scared one of my chickens to death. not in the sense that it died directly from fright, but from breaking it's neck from falling upon being shoved off by another frightened bird. Needless to say, he made it in The burn barrel this morning. And the unexpected never ceases to amaze.
