Knew a bass player that lost tips of his left fingers, he figured out how to play again, so..... you will too ;-)
I'll 2nd that ! I lost part of my finger but was able to get it back on. It was a tiny bit attached . It feels numb still after three years but much better. I also had 2 foot surgeries

dr messed up first surgery. Ugh! they sawed my Heal bone off two times considering 2 surgeries . Then moved it forward . Then took a tendon out , tightened up the rest and removed part of the bone. It took me a good year to three years but everything is good now! Sucks when it happens to those areas ! So painful! Best wishes and a speedy healthy recovery to you from our family! I'll take pictures as we rebuild 3 coops next week.

thank you for all your help ! I just started reading the paradise thread so did not know you were in pain this whole time. Thanks for still helping me! Says a lot! Glad you have a good support system. Mentally it's very frustrating !!! As you well know. Sending fast healing juju !!!

Pretty epic lightning storm at about 3 this morning over the ridge. Cloudy here now so I'm expecting rain. Its been scattered off and on since the first shower the other day, we really do need it here. The birds are always really happy when its wet, the ducks definitely prefer it raining to the chickens but they all love a little wet soil.
Just been spending a lot of time observing since I can't do much building. I really do enjoy watching everyone's unique personalities and quarks. And I'm really going to enjoy having the use of my hand again. Lol. Seriously tho everyone has been a lot of fun to watch and all my friends are being really supportive.
@Angie16hearts cut my a chillies tendon pretty bad a couple years ago, wasnt very fun. Damaging extremities never is. Its warming to see so many stories of recooperating. My ankle has heeled as best it can and I know my fingers will too.

I was thinking about this the other day after posting here....
have had one hand immobile for months, have been also been on crutches several times.
....was wondering which is worse and I think not being able to walk is worse than the hand out of commission.

My brother was in an accident a couple years ago, shattered one femur and broke both wrists....that was the worst.

That's horrible ! Glad that's all that happened! I remover when I was 16. I was driving with friends in the biggest storm !!! No one was on the road. He was going about 70 . I told him to slow down ! Already had a gut feeling . Well gut feeling was right. We crashed and same thing minus the femer . I could not handle that! Both hands out of commission . They are both bad! I would rather go with hand. I'm not sure actually that's a hard one! I guess it could come down to what line of work your in. If I had a desk job I would go with leg. @ Attimus how long have you had this injury?

Thinking on the subject of which is worse, the injury is to my left dominant hand I am a chef(15 years)and artist not to mention everything I've been working on out here has come to a screeching halt. Its been almost a month now that I havent been able to use my hand tho recently have been utilizing more of my arm. The injury to my ankle took away my ability to walk freely and required the use of both hands with crutches for a long time. I played soccer when I was younger and then thought if I lost the use of a leg I wouldn't know what to do. As much as not being able to use my hand to any end in the scheme of my work and hobby is the now very apparent inability to hold my existing child if I were to be suffering from an ankle injury would be worse than the injury itself.
Food for thought.

When I was a kid my mom tried my brother's skateboard and ended up with two broken elbows. My baby sister was only a few weeks old at the time... Luckily the recovery was only a few weeks, but boy that seemed like a lonnngggg recovery. We still laugh about my step dad having to hold the baby in place so my mom could nurse her...

I'm sorry, Remind me not to try any skate boards around here! That had to be horrible but the whole line about placing the baby ... Got me giggling !!! Does really get you thinking. What period of life you are in! Which would you pick? I would like to decline all three !

Did you say your left handed and a artist ? My youngest is ambidextrous and loves to draw and write. That so important for an artist to be able to get their emotions eart so important for an artist to be able to get their emotions on paper whether it's painting, writing, drawing etc.
Then on top of that being a chef definitely need your hands! How much longer are you supposed to lay low?

I started out as a kid using both hands as well but fell into what was most comfortable. Around 6th grade i spent some time relearning to write with my right hand, and fell back into what was comfortable after enough practice had passed. I've used my right hand to sign a few things recently and wish I had kept up at it. Encourage your boy to continue to use both as long as he's willing. My hands have been my life for a long time and I am grateful the damage was not more severe. I have another 6 weeks before my next checkup on them and it seems like an eternity.
