My Welsummers are growing up

My little Wellies are 15 weeks old, and they are so pretty! I have 2 pullets and 1 cockerel from my first hatch. I just wanted to share a few photos.

I only got pics of one of the pullets. The other pullet posed so cute-ly for me, but the pictures were blurred. Maybe I got so excited, my hand shook. LOL. So I'm adding 2 pics of the one pullet, and we'll just pretend that the second pic is of the second pullet, OK? They really look alike anyway...

The girls don't have names yet, because I can't tell them apart reliably. I've been trying names on the cockerel, but nothing has "stuck" so far. I guess it doesn't really matter, because I don't actually plan to keep him for a breeder. I have another strain picked out for hatching eggs in the fall, and I imagine that I'll want to keep a male from that line. This little guy hatched from a speckled egg. I really like him for his laid back personality, but as far as breeding goes, I want a roo from a darker egg.

And speaking of eggs, I can't wait to see what these two girls will lay!

As far as names, I am leaning towards Jezebel and Sophie. Or maybe Holly. It just doesn't do me any good since I can't tell them apart yet. But thanks for the list, barred-rocks-rock! The one that stands out to me is Olive. I like that. I may name one of the girls from my newest Wellie hatch Olive. Those 4 are just growing in their chest feathers, and it's looking like 3 pullets and one cockerel.

I like Bonny, too. But I always think of Bonnie Blue, so I've been saving that one for a blue hen.

As far as the roos go, I had 3 of them from this hatch. I didn't have any trouble at all finding new homes for the other 2. But wow, TimG, that really sucks to get 8 males and only 1 female! I suggest that you grow them out a little bit, and post some pics here in the Buy-Sell-Trade section. I think mine were 13 weeks old when I sold them. So they already had their roo on, and they were really good-looking birds. Welsummers make the prettiest roos, in my opinion.
