My White Eggs Turned Brown/Tan....???

Should I take the towel out? This is an experiment for me. Actually, I am really not expecting them to hatch but I want to at least try! And you just made me think....out of all the pics I have seen NONE of the eggs were on a towel!! I think I'll take it out.

How long do they take to hatch if they are going to? Today is start of day 10. I put them in the box during the evening on 12/29. I read 21 days.

The take 21 days, usually. The towel may not be it I'm just THINKING it might have something to do with it. My sister hatched eggs out on a towel under a hot lamp once, didn't think she could do it. She did it to prove a point... Hah.

When you visit the eggs, take pictures. Look up how to candle ( a flashlight in a dark room on the fat end works fine ) and try to get us some pictures of candling.

Okay I will be with them tomorrow and will take pics. And that's exactly what I'm doing, I have the kind of light that you clip on the side of something with the aluminum lamp "shade". I was bored over Christmas break hanging out at the shop so I started a "project". But now I heard all the other hens (6 of them) and roosters (2) probably won't accept these if one does hatch and someone will have to train the chicks! I thought I could just put the baby out with all the others.

Here a couple of the roosters

And the hens
400

Can you tell the breed of them? Someone asked me and I have no idea.

The roo and hen in the far right bottom of the last picture look like a Copper Maran mix. The black ones, I would guess at least part Austrolorp. They all appear to be a mix of some kind......The Austrolorp and Maran should both be a brown egg.....(Maran real dark brown)

How are are the eggs? Well....I messed up :-(

To start off the eggs didn't actually change color. It was just his camera on his phone and flash or something. First thing I did when I got there was go look at them lol. Still the same color!!!! I said you had me going crazy!

So on to candeling....I googled and you tubed and googled some more on how to do it and what the egg should look like and to see what exactly I'm looking for. Put the flashlight under it and all we saw was a clear bottom. It was clear on the fatter end and there was a perfectly straight line going around the bottom of the egg like it was separating the bottom from the top....it was the same on both of them. You couldn't see through the tops at all. Both eggs looked exactly the same. I had my laughing and cracking on ourselves moment..."ha we've basically spent almost 3 weeks turning and rotating basically store bought eggs" blah blah. I didnt take pics cause I was laughing and thought no point. I turned the heat light off and said oh well guess both are duds. So my curious self decides to see what it looked like inside. I took one outside to crack it open. OOMMGG THERE WAS A BLACK CHICK IN THERE! I was shocked, then I was mad at myself for not giving them more time and just giving up, then I was sad cause you could see his/her poor little beak and feet and my selfish self just got done dying laughing and killed it :-( I go back inside, turned the light back on, and rotated the other one this weekend. Do you guys think this other one will hatch? Can there be a baby in it but never hatch?

I got two MORE eggs to try so this one (if it hatches) can have friends then I'm gonna give all of them to my friend.

It is possible as with all eggs. Sorry that happened. Just wait and see. It is good that you are going to try again so that this one will have friends.
