Are you absolutely sure your Cochin IS a roo? Here is a photo I just took of my Buff Cochin pair. They are 24 weeks old right now. I have 5 Cochin cockerels, all the same age, and they were ALL crowing by 16 weeks!

two years ago on fathers day we got Scotts dad some Barred Rock chicks and one ended up being a rooster, He was sooo mean he would attack you through the fence even. So not all Barred Rock Roosters are nice. He came from a hatchery though so maybe thats part of it.
We have a Lt. Brahma right now about 6 months old. So far he is very gentle to us. He barges in and at the feeders though pushes the girls out of the way with a peck on the head.

This is Lou the Andalusian, the George Clooney of roosters. He is very handsome & elegant, though not very tough (like G.C.!) I adore him even though he lets my Silkie roo kick his heiney.
