MY WINTERIZED COOP/RUN - What does yours look like??

I'm sure we could have done that, which would force them to spend all of their time in the coop when the weather is really crummy. I really want a run that is very usable in all 4 seasons, especially for the neurotic guineas on the days they can't free range. The 2' high baseboards all around the run were done to protect from snow drifts as well as predators.

I'd love to see pics of others who have winterized and maybe get more ideas!

I'm hoping they won't spend all the time in there. There are a lot of people around here that have chickens (I live out in the sticks) and I've seen them out in the snow all winter so maybe ours will too. I do plan to get a snow shovel to keep by the run to shovel a path for them. I can see winterizing that way for guineas though, since they like to stay and roost outside. And I do like how you have that 2' all around though. That would probably be pretty easy to add to our run and our dog would quit trying to dig at the fence to get the bread and chicken bones I throw to them.

This is my first winter with chickens too, and I just can't imagine my fluffy silkies out in the snow.

Yep, that's in the plan. I just haven't made it out to pick up the wood.

I wouldn't want to imagine that either. We only got heavy breeds partly so they would be would be winter-hardy.
