Hi all
Just wanted to share my story with you! The one that doesn't have a name yet...Any comments welcome and appreciated!

This is the first part of Chapter One:

Flight sniffed the ground, her accurate sense of smell picking up the slightest trace of hare, in the thick undergrowth in front of her. Silently she moved forwards, dropping into the hunter's crouch, as she neared the thicket. She sprang, and caught the hare in her jaws, killing it swiftly with a bite from her strong jaws. As she padded away, the temptation to eat was nearly too much for her to bear, although she knew the alpha must be fed first. She dropped the hare for a moment, pausing to lick her grey-brown fur, before clasping her jaws tightly over it and leaped away to join the pack.

Back with the pack, Flight dropped her hare on the pile of prey already caught, her mouth salivating with hunger. The other pack members were already eating when she returned. The alpha must have already eaten, she thought, picking up the hare she had just caught.

Cloudsky, the the white furred alpha male, and Rain his mate, the brown dappled furred alpha female, were talking to each other at the back, away from the rest of the pack.

Flight walked over to Dapple, a she-wolf licking her golden fur. Dapple looked up at Flight. "The prey is feeding well," she commented, glancing at the plump form swinging in Flight's jaws. Flight grunted her agreement, and placed the rabbit on the snow in front of her. "Rain is expecting cubs soon," Dapple spoke again, "Most likely tomorrow. It will be good for our pack to have more members. Cloudsky will lead us through yet. "

Flight noticed she didn't mention the other rival packs though, which was why the pack needed more members. She had hinted though, but it was better not to mention it, she thought, tearing into her catch. Speaking of the other rivals would only increase the tension in the pack, and that was the last thing they needed. Lately the pack had been weak, due to relentless attacks from Ice-eye's pack. He had been trying to gain territory, but had failed, although his attacks had weakened their pack.

A black male wolf called Midnight, shouldered his way past the other wolves until he faced Flight. He had overheard the conversation. "Cloudsky cannot lead this pack," he growled, "He is a weak alpha. I should be the one leading!"

"Cloudsky will never give in," Flight growled in return, "He is a strong leader, and he is too proud to admit defeat." When Midnight didn't reply, she continued. "He is a good leader too though. You must see that side of him as well. You should be loyal to him!"

Well, that's all for the moment, I haven't finshed Chapter One yet. Hope you enjoyed!

Thanks Bluebee! There are two surrounding packs, and since Ice-eye attacked Cloudsky's pack, the other rival pack will use this time to launch another attack to gain territory on Cloudsky's pack. Well, it hasn't happened in the story yet, but I will probably add it in later.

Here's the end of Chapter One (it's quite short) :

Suddenly a wolf appeared from the snowy clearing and padded into the clearing. Flight could barely keep from showing her surprise when she recognised him. It was Ice-eye, the alpha from the other pack! Cloudsky padded over to him."What do you want?" he snarled. The muscular, white coloured wolf curled his lip in contempt, revealing his sharp teeth. "Territory," he growled, his cold blue eyes boring in Cloudsky. "I want more territory."

CHAPTER TWO: THE FIGHT
"If you want territory, you'll have to kill me first!" Cloudsky faced Ice-eye, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"So be it." Ice-eye spoke coolly. Cloudsky moved a few steps back, sizing up his opponent. They around were the same size, their muscles rippling under their pelts. But did Ice-eye have the same fighting skills as Cloudsky? Flight wondered. She had known the pale grey wolf to be a furious fighter, who determined his opponents weaknesses before striking out, but to know when to be merciful, and when to let go.

"Coward!" Ice-eye snapped, his eyes still on Cloudsky. Suddenly he attacked, leaping for Cloudsky's throat, and gripping onto him with a tight hold before he could escape. "This fight will end quicker than you think," he growled. But before he could deal the killing blow, Cloudsky lashed out, kicking with his powerful hind legs, sending Ice-eye skidding across the snowy ground until he finally came to a halt. His stomach was red with sticky blood, but it was only a small wound. Cloudsky glanced down at his own leg seeing blood flow down in a narrow stream till it reached the cold ground.

The other wolves had studied the fight, trying to see who would lose and who would win. Flight was sure Cloudsky would win, but both wolves had equal chances. Rain had looked on in horror, knowing her unborn cubs might grow up without a father.

Hope you liked it! I still have the rest of Chapter Two to go, and I'll work on it more tomorrow.
