My woodshed/coop (update 6/1) Run Finished!!! pic HEAVY

jjamerb, that looks great. Don't be too overly concerned if you do have too many next boxes because they can always be used like lockers for storage. Your inside dimensions of 8x16 will be adequate if your 50 straight run chicks turn out to be 25 hens and you keep two or three roosters, but you're going to need a very large run and only use the coop for feeding and roosting.

Edit: Speaking of roosts. You probably already know it, but just in case... Your roosts have to be higher than your nest boxes or the chickens will roost in the nest boxes. You might decide to close up the top two rows of nest boxes because the bottom row of six nests will be plenty. How are you going to do your roosts?

I like the design from the coop "Layers Lodge" for my roost.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=12626

I have a 6' height on the back and 8' on front so I can clear nesting boxes pretty easily. Was going to stagger roosts up to about 7' being highest poing and 4' being lowest. Would that work.

i might just put a 1x12 hinged board across the top of the top row for storage. Kind of got carried away with boxes but figured too many is better than not enough. I only put the middle bar on nesting boxes to prevent them from having one too high. The upper dividers are not connected to roof of nesting box just in case roosting became a problem. I can unscrew them making a large divided storage bin.

Run is going to be quite large. Not sure of the exact dimensions but it should be close to 10'x60'. Thanks for the tips. Please keep them coming. I can use all the help I can get.

Yes. I had one odd skid and it was a pain in the but to get walls to line up on the corner it was in.

I just put skids topside down on level ground side by side, screw the 2 pallets together, do the same with another set then butt the two ends together and nail ends together. Helps to put a small 2x4 inbetween the end to connect them.

When you stand it up you have a flat wall ready for covering.

You can feel free and continue your fantastic new building skills in my back yard if you please! haha I would love to be able have a coop like this! Very nice job!

How much have you spent on the coop if you don't mind me asking because it looks like a very affordable coop that looks more then what it actually cost!
