My Wyandotte's gender

This chick was born 4-17, so still pretty young. It's the only Wyandotte I have. But, all the other chicks (Barred Rock and NH Red) have cute little upright, short tail feathers. This one has a much bigger plume which points down.

My vet was just here and she bought it was too early for a guess. Anyone here willing to venture, I'd appreciate it. This bird is substantially bigger than my Barred Rock, born the same day, but equal size to my NH Red. Almost positive those two are pullets.

As you said, it's pretty early to be making any guesses, but with those wattles already apparent, I'm voting cockerel.

My 4 1/2 week GL Wyandottes look very similar to this bird, they are larger and their tails hang a little sometimes. They are supposed to be pullets, but I have sometimes wondered if they could be males. Sorry the pictures aren't the best, wish I could be more help! Good luck!

Wattles seem to develop early on Wyandottes - doesn't mean much. A front view of the comb might help.

Hard to say-we need a head shot of it. I agree, if it is getting wattles, it may be a boy, have to see the comb to be certain.

I have dottes... The girls have NO wattle development till nearing 3-4 months. What I can see of the comb, its orange-ish... So, I .am thinking, give another 2 weeks, so 6 wks old, and you'll know for sure.

Oh, and my pullets and hens hold their tails down quite often for no apparent reason. I think they like being a challenge some days. Lol
