Fred, my spare roo I hatched, went to his new home yesterday. He now lives in a very large pen with 250 young pheasants that belong to the local shoot. If he behaves he will live there and not be shot as he won't fly like a pheasant!!
We let him in and he strutted across, crowing, and was quite pushy with any young birds that got in his way! He is only 12 weeks but he is bigger than all the pheasants.
If he behaves he will have a good life and after a month he will go out in the forest still being fed. He will have to be able to get up a tree to sleep but he will stand a good chance of surviving I think.
We can feed him in the winter if he is still there.
As we left I said "I wonder if he will be happy?" and there was an answering crow that seemed to say "You bet I will!"
