Long story short,...my young rooster ate a glob of old dried silicon. I really hope he just passes it, he's our first male and he is as sweet as can be.
Does anyone have any input on what to do or what the outcome may be?

I am no expert, but I would think if it was old and dry it would be no different than eating a piece of plastic and wouldn't worry to much. It should all come out in the end.

My first batch free-ranged in a remodel site and caulk and silicone--(looks like worms) was there favorite food. I was concerned, but as it it seemed to be no problem they just did clean-up after window repairs. Never seemed to hurt them--(sex-links)

Thanks phalenbeck,

That made me feel better, you should of seen us (wife and kids) running this thing down trying to get it before he swallowed it. We almost had him cornered and he looked me dead in the eyes and gulped it down.
I love when animals "virtually" flip you off, like when an escaped dog waits for you to get within 3 feet of him before he bolts...

I'm assuming you mean silicone, not silicon.
Sorry, I'm a chemist and deal with glue on a daily basis.

Cured silicone is completely inert, will not break down in digestion and in fact is not chemically unlike some prosthetic materials (fake boobs for example) used in the human body.

If the piece is fairly regular and smooth it should pass right out without any problems. Certainly there will be no chemical reactions within the body. Just watch the crop and digestion if it was irregular shaped. It could get hung up mechanically.

Great advise H2OKarensa and yes silicone ( i don't mind being corrected). What can be done if it gets hung up in there?
I'm at least glad there wont be any toxic/poison issues.
