My young rooster is doing the strangest thing.....

Tidbitting, or calling when a rooster has found something good to eat, has a different sound to when a rooster indicates a good nest spot. The squatting down thing is part of it.

Well you learn something new every day. I will keep my shed door closed from now on.

My roosters will often get inside the nesting boxes and do the same thing. Not sure how my big Cochin gets in or out of the plastic wall mounted boxes. But he will sing up a storm until one of the girls comes to look at it.

Not all roosters will do this. It is a sign of a good roo. But it might be best to close the door in case the girls start listening and lay their eggs in there!

My oldest rooster will make a nest call the girls to it and they do use it. I also set out nest boxes for him to find,,,
