My young silver phoenix pair (pics)

Other option for keeping tails long is putting down new wood shavings religiously--I change mine out weekly and dump the old ones on the compost. Keeping as few other birds in with the boys as possible helps too, I had my silver roo in a pen with his hen and his chicks, and the chicks kept tromping all over dad's tail...still long, but doesn't look as nice now.

I was told by the man I bought mine from to feed them fish and lettace and grains and less corn. Give the fish and lettace in the morning. Replace lettace with cabbage if your not looking for fertile eggs.

I have American Onagadori"s but that diet is to help their feathers grow.

Hi BellLisamo! I've been absent for quite a while, but I wanted to check and see how your phoenix's were doing. Phoenee's cage is still empty, but all the rest of the flock is really laying and very happy. Even my ducks are laying!

How's your flock?

Phoenix Silver Hen has great tail.

Hi Lisa!
I don't think I can do anything like that right now. Actually the chickenrun environment is pretty good and that little sicilian buttercup that I was trying to get rid of is now my big man and boy is he handsome! Work is keeping me extremely busy right now, but I would love to come see your place a little later this fall when things calm down. Is this phoenix as sweet as the other one? I might not be able to resist!!!
I'll try to keep in touch better!

O i almost forgot this one, but here he is checking out my camera... lol. They respond to "Hi baby!!!" by walking up to me...
