My younger chicks all about 10 weeks old all
cram into one nesting box in the evening and looks like they
stay there all night. Is this normal? I have 2 older birds that are now just
laying so I can't block them off. What should I do, wait and see if they get interested
In the roosting bars?

Nothing says you can't block them off just before roosting time and open it up first thing in the morning. A pain, more work. The alternative is to place the on the roost ever night till they get the idea.

That is common with young babies to want to sleep in nest boxes. You can block the boxes off at night just as everybody is going to roost. Nobody will be laying eggs in the dark. Just make sure to remove the "blockage" to the nest boxes in the morning. And don't worry if you get there too late and a hen needs to lay. I have seen my girls pinch off eggs for 4 hours waiting to get into a box. LOL
