I just got three new Barred Rock Hens a 1 Barred Roo they have separate pens and houses
fresh straw and clean houses but they wont go in them....the are up off the ground with easy access.
The roo sits on top his house all night the chickens huddle in the corner of the pen
What am I doing wrong and worst it going to rain.
Please help
I even set out there to watch if they go in at dusk or dark and they dont
These are full grown chickens not chicks

Thank you

You will need to put them in every night for a while... they'll cotton on.

I had this problem when I first put my girls outside... they just didn't know to go in. I did a few things, first I kept a light on in the henhouse that stayed on just after dark so to entice them in when it was dark outside, then every late evening at the same time (8:30 ish) I went out shuffled them up their ramp and in - then helped them up onto the low perch and closed the pop door so they got the picture. After a week or more they sorted it out.

I'm sure it doesn't have to be this complicated - they will generally figure it out... but this worked like a champ for me.

Good luck!
