Mycoplasma how can I fix it?

My chickens have MG. they haven't been tested by a vet because it's not in the budget. Wiping the slate clean is also not an option because my family is very attached to the chickens. I am hoping to breed. They have been treated with antibiotics. Some still have symptoms. Any advice on what I should do?

You can treat your chickens whenever they get sick, but they all are carriers, and will infect all chickens coming into the flock. MG is transmittable through hatching eggs. It is possible to have a closed flock--none in, none out, and treat as necessary.

So there is no way to cure it? Is there any way that you can tell if they are all carriers? Is it possible that this is just a chicken cold?

There is no cure for most of the common respiratory diseases such as MG (CRD). or coryza. You can treat with antibiotics and they may get better, but some may get sick again whenever they are stressed. That is why it is good to get one sick bird tested or necropsied so you know what you have going on, and can cull or treat with th proper drugs.

I'm no expert, but maybe you could try a powerful anitbiotic like Baytril?

Whatever drug you use--Tylan, oxytetracycline, erythromycin, or even Baytril, they will never be permanently cured. You can treat them when they get sick, and they may lay eggs for you. Here is a link to read--just click on it:

True, they won't be cured, but might live symptom free for a long time if cared for properly.

I would not breed birds who are carriers of MG or coryza. Yes they can be a flock to enjoy and raise eggs for eating, but breed them, no. Any of your neighbors with poultry are at risk of infection. You should never give away or sell chicks or birds from a flock that are carriers of respiratory disease.

Duh, good catch! Yes, no breeding or selling of birds with diseases like that.
