Well, about 3 weeks ago I had a little hen die. Over the weekend I had another hen become weak, she had difficulty standing up, swollen eyes, a lot of nasal drainage and gurgley respirations. I called my local vet and they gave me some Baytril and told me to call my local extension office. Well, I talked with my state poultry expert and he said that my birds probably have Mycoplasmosis. He said that the Baytril will only mask the symptoms. He recommended to just let the flock die out and then clean everything really good. Let it set for 4 weeks and then get me birds that are only purchased from a hatchery. Does anyone have anything else to add???? I really hate to loose all my birds. They are part of the family.

I'm curious about that response, just let them all die off?

Please do a search, top right, for mycoplasmosis. There are several threads listed there that may help you out.
