I have one each of a Rhode Island Red, Plymouth Barred Rock, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Buff Orpington, Americana and two blue bantam silkies.

So far the Americana is the most entertaining, friendly and the boss. Next would be the Silver lace, barred rock and rhode island red. These are the ones that come running for treats. These four hang out together the most.

The Buff Orpington is sweet, gentle but a little reserved, along with the Banties who I thought would be very social, but it is quite the opposite. These guys go the opposite way when treat are offered.

I ordered 8 Buff Brama Bantams/sexed from them. I requested to have them shipped the first week in June. We're in the process of getting our coop ready. We wanted a certain breed & sexed...but no one would sex them or ship less than 25. What a bummer, expecially if we are new to it & only need a small number. I was especially happy with the customer service...and they gave me a confirmation email...& will when they are shipped. Very informative & helpful. Yipeeeeee.....I almost gave up searching for sexed/specific breed/smalll number order. I would have only had 1 choice of sexed, individual chickens at the feed store.

I look at it as a hobby. If I were to buy a dog or cat from a breeder or from a Humane Society, it would cost at least 100+. I didn't need lots of chickens, I didn't want a roo. I don't have many things that I spend money on for my enjoyment and I decided to splurge on my new wonderful pets. So far they have been nothing but joy. But boy do they like to POOP! Need to get them in a bigger box. Steph

Here they are at 1 1/2 weeks old.

This hatchery seems cool. I want only a couple Japanese bantams and I only can keep hens so a minimum order of three with sexing sounds great. Does anyone know the aproximate cost? I see that they are $3 each, but I'm thinking the shipping cost must be huge. I live in NY probably about 7 hours away, do you think they would arrive in one day? Thanks.

I just got an email from them. The total would be $66. It seems way to expensive, but worth it for backyarders I think. I'm still debating what to do, I'll probably just order eggs from Ideal since I'm in no hurry.

we just ordered our chicks from my pet chicken. they are due to arrive may 23rd. Traci(the person that mainly picks up customer service was very friendly and helpful. she went through everything with us and told us which chicks werent available. she seemed like she knew a lot and helped us pick the breeds. i personally am very happy with my pet chicken because they are the only people that have sexed bantams. before me and my mom found my pet chicken we were going to order from mcmurray but we really wanted bantams and couldnt get them from mcmurray because if we get a roo by accident the neighbors will kill us and will make us kill the chickens. My mom is delighted that I found My Pet Chicken and now we are also able to get bantams and we really dont want 25 chicks and this is also something that My Pet Chicken can do. im really excited about the soon coming chicks(except we have to wait 2 weeks for them to come since we have to set up the brooder thats coming from mcmurray)

I guess it is a good idea for people who only want a few chicks but I can't imagine it being hard to sell or get rid of other chicks after you order 25 from a bigger hatchery. The total from a regular hatcher would probably cost half as much too! I just think that it is very expensive and similar to the eglu things that I think are so over priced for what they are. Maybe it's just me though in that I can't justify paying so much for these chickens, especially if they aren't show quality. Or maybe it's because I'm poor which makes me think the things they offer and the prices on stuff are astoundingly expensive.

Good luck with your orders though and hope they make it to you safely!
