I found this DIY chicken coop plan. It says It can hold up to 6 standard hens. Is that true?

I think it could work, kind of hard to tell without the dimensions, but I would personally make the run a little bigger if you choose to build that coop.

3-4 sq feet per bird in the coop, 10 sq feet per bird in the run. You could get away with a little less run space if you're allowing them to free range for a little while most every day.

Im planning to let them free range in the afternoon depending on the weather

Planning to keep 4 but might order 5 to 6 just incase theirs a loss

It could yes, but my backyard is on a slope so it might be tricky.

If you're going to order 5 or 6, make it big enough for 5 or 6. I"d recommend making it at least twice the size you think you need, becuase when you inevitably want more chickens, you're not going to want to expand your coop.

fair. I just don't want to build a huge costly coop that will take weeks on end to make as a starting chicken owner
