Mypetchicken? Worth buying? Quality show stock?

I realize this is a super old thread but in case anyone is googling this subject: I have a small backyard flock and ordered "designer" crossbreds and for blue and green eggs from my pet chicken as I unfortunately cannot have a rooster and prefer bantams. I had good luck with the standard breeds - cream leg bar, bantam cochin, sussex, etc. but lost the majority of the "designer" chicks who were very weak after shipping and two that died a couple of days later. In thinking about it, I wonder if lots of inbreeding went into developing these crosses. I will avoid these well-marketed crosses in the future.

I ordered 18 chicks from MPC and all are almost 5 weeks old and thriving. I have mix of Lavender Orpington, Blue Fauvacana, Blue Birchen Copper Maran, Salmon Faverolles. One of the Faverolles male had a left eye issue. I believe it was injured by a piece of bedding during shipping. They told me to use antibiotic topical cream. After two weeks, it wasn’t getting better. They promptly refunded me. I continued to apply the antibiotic. And now at almost 5 weeks old, he looks good. It doesn’t look like it was injured at all! I will be receiving 15 more chicks from them in April, 2023. I hope I have the same success.

Best of luck!
