Mysterious Color Changing Egg

So I went out to check on the kids in the run this morning and found an egg on the ground. None of them have laid on the ground since a week after they started laying so strange to begin with.
After retrieving the egg, I noticed that it was a strange color. It had to come from my RIR, Lucy. I have 2 Andalusians that lay pure white eggs, and my sex linked golden (Ethel) laid an egg last night around 7:30). So it had to be Lucy. Which is very strange because she is such a devoted nest builder. She doesn't lay in the actual nesting box but will carefully build a nest in the coop and lay a beautiful dark brown egg in it.

So this egg looks sort of pale brownish purple. Had a little poo on it so I washed it to put in the fridge right away. As I put water on the egg it turned back to the normal "Lucy" color. Then when it dries, it goes back. Has anyone else had a magical mysterious color changing egg before. Is this a symptom of some actual problem with Lucy that I need to correct or is it one of the just strange things that chickens do every once in a while. I'm just really concerned that there might be something wrong with Lucy. I'm going to try to include a couple of pictures of the egg.

The egg on the left is a normal "Lucy" egg, the one on the right is the strange color

This is what happens when the strange egg is wet.

Any Thoughts?

I have had eggs exactly this colour from my hens who usually lay brown eggs, but don't know why.
It seems to happen just once in a while,

I dont know, but I get them like that too. When they get washed they get back to "normal" brown color.
Like I said, I dont KNOW...but I GUESS its a calcium? residue left from when the shell formed inside the hen or when she passed it. It dries into a dust and washes right off.

Seems harmless, and the egg is just fine to eat. I get an egg or 2 like that here and there. Seems like they are more prone to "dusty" eggs when its really hot outside. maybe a tad dehydration from 100+ degree weather factors in there. Hopefully someone whos not just making a gess to the cause will pipe up and give you a real answer.

But I wouldnt worry about it. I think its normal

I know Wynette had a Marans that laid a purple egg. And not just purple tinted, but PURPLE. She said she only got them once in about 25 days. But when you get it wet, it turned normal color.

I think she still has the picture of it in her avatar.

I get a few of those every day and im pretty sure its from my wyandottes. Have you ever boiled any of these particular ones? Ive noticed that even the older ones are very difficult to peel. no idea why

we call them "the purple eggs" because thats almost what color some of them are!
also ours stay that color even after we wash them and put them in the fridge....brown when wet, purple when dry. verrrry interesting.

I posted the same thing with my Marans egg today... when washing it goes back to regular color but when it dries it returns to that weird color. Haven't cracked it yet but I assume it is normal inside.

I had a Barred Rock that did almost the same thing.. but it sometimes stayed the purplish color with white spots.
