Sorry for reposting this but I am now able to post photos and wanted to let everyone see what I am talking about. The chick is on the other side of the egg at the moment and I have this dark spot that seems to be stuck to the shell. It seems to have veins attached to it. Have no idea what it is or if it is healthy or not.

at first I thought it was just one of those spots that you just discard the egg cause they never really deveope(meat spot) but it looks like it has veins .embryos stick to the side of the shell if they arnt turned properly.

howe old is the egg, was it shipped that way, we dont really know the story on it, was it in incubator? for how long over a certian period of time might be a quitter. need to know a bit more about it. does it move around when you move the agg around? (gently)

The egg is on day 13. There is a moving chick on the other side of the egg that seems just as healthy and moving as much as the other chicks. The egg came right from one of my Rhode Island Reds and into the incubator.

I know this is an old post, but I am curious to see what happened in this situation. I just candled an egg on day 9 and saw the same thing. The chick was moving on one side of the egg, but there was a very dark spot that looked like it was in the blood vessel on the other side. It literally just showed up over night because it wasn't there yesterday. Did the chick in this instance hatch and survive? Thanks...

I wish I could remember which of my eggs this happened with. I'm thinking it hatched fine, but I couldn't swear to it. We incubated 9 and 5 hatched, but I can't remember which specific egg this was! It was my first (and only, so far) time incubating, so things got a little crazy. I should have documented better. I'm sorry I'm not any more help!

No worries at all was merely curious :) I'm hoping my egg is fine and that the chick will hatch alright. Thank you for replying :)
