We have no roosters as we've always re-homed them, but are very occasionally seeing what looks to be a fertilized egg. We've got 12 banty hens and they free roam the backyard. One of the little Old English Game hens does fly over the fence and will roam the rest of our 1 acre lot. We used to worry about her, but she doesn't have a problem finding her way back, especially if she hears treats being distributed.
My question is is it possible she's going to visit a rooster somewhere in the neighborhood and getting busy? I know roosters sometimes seek out neighboring hens, but I was curious if hens will seek out roosters. We haven't seen or heard a rooster so it's a little perplexing. We don't have a problem eating fertilized eggs. I'm asking more out of curiosity.
