The second year I had chickens, this OEGB mix hen showed up in my yard. I could tell she wasn't pure, because she was peacomb. She had a nice body, and appeared to be very young still. I caught her, and caged her for a few days. After a while, nobody asked me if I had seen their hen, so I kept her. Later that year I took her to the county fair along with a 50% OEGB 50% Asil hen that I bred. The mysterious hen placed 3rd, and the hen I bred placed 1st. After that, I thought, "Eh, this spring I guess I will breed her." So I did, then those chicks from her sold like hotcakes. I bred her again later that year, the same thing happened. I started thinking, there must be something about this hen that people like. The next year, I bred her again, the same thing happened that had been going on the first year. So it continued, every year I bred her, every year her chicks sold within 3-4 months of hatching. Finally I moved to a new home, and continued to breed her. At one point I bred her to a Pumpkin OEGB rooster I had ordered, they all came grey, except for one pullet, who was BBR. I sold the stags quickly like usual except for one, whom I kept for myself with the pullet. The pullet was picked off by a predator when she was about 8 months old, but the stag stayed with me.
Two years passed and by now I had taken a break from breeding her. The stag was sold, as he decided to boss around everyone else, he too, was peacomb like his mother. I think there was some black in her somewhere, because her son had too much black on his wings for a normal Golden-Duckwing grey (that is what he looked like when he was only a year old). Finally I bred her to a 50% OEGB 50% Rosecomb bantam cockeral I had bred, only one chick made it. It turned out to be a pullet, who was clearly show-quality. I sold her to a friend who was just trying to get started with bantams. Then some people came, and at this point, I was/still am switching from OEGBs to AGBs. The hen was about 6 years old by this time, I sold her, the Rosecomb mix cockeral I bred her to, and a couple other grey pullets out of my Asil OEGB mix I mentioned earlier. I think she is doing just fine in her new home. I certainly got my use out of her, maybe they can get some too!

P.S I still have the Pumpkin and the Asil mix hen, I am going to keep them and two other OEGB hens I have. I currently have 2 pairs of AGBs and 1 pair of Miniature Games.
