mysterious squash in my garden

I've grown all kinds of stuff by accident in my yard, but they have been things that the chickens had eaten out there. I neglected the yard for ages that is fenced off last year and then found tomato plants covered in tomatoes this year! And I went out there last week it was all over grown and I was growing wheat

I know where the best spot to grow a vegie garden in my yard is because of this

I don't even have to try out there! Would be cool to grow something completely random like what you found.

Last year I filled a flower planter with Impatiens. This year there were Impatiens growing on the ground all around the planter.

It's nice finding surprises like that!

NorthFlchick, I know I hope more surprises pop up! As long as there good surprises.

Mamabokbok, My girls keep planting tomatoes all over my yard too and they love eating there fruit they usually get them before me, apparently humans are not the only ones who like to garden.

Haha! Yes chickens are naturally talented at gardening that is for sure! I suppose I better feed mine some tomatoes too, I have some really nice little orange/yellow ones that are like $6 a punnet which is ridiculous but they are SO yummy

so my bok boks can get to work growing me some of them for sure

The chickens I have now Actually don't seem overly interested in eating fruit/veg
1f615.png
they don't eat much chicken feed either
1f610.png
they are loving picking through the dirt and eating bits of grass and they eat their shell grit stuff but I have given them fresh corn, watermelon, blueberries, strawberries, grated carrot so far and they barely touch it?! I don't think they are gonna poop me any tomato plants

I wonder why..

How old are they? From my experience younger chickens can be pretty picky.

My 2 adult chickens are 7-8 months and the younger ones I've lost count of how many weeks
1f636.png
the younger ones are MUCH more keen to eat scraps than the older ones it's wierd
1f610.png
I brought them both fresh corn cobs neither even tried the corn
1f60c.png
bubbas ate grated carrot, watermelon and steamed squash etc adults didn't touch that either I have no idea.. Maybe they wernt fed anything like that growing up

I got them at pol

Yeah, maybe they didn't. I don't know it's weird maybe they'll see the younger chickens eating and decide to give it try.
