I have a 5 week 3 day old bantam I bought at a feed store in an assorted bantam bin. It was solid black as an itty bitty chick. As it has grown its feathers have came in black and gold. Any ideas of breed? Thanks!

I have one just like this, and have no clue...if you find out I would be curious to know. I've looked everywhere I can find, yet no idea still. Sorry I can't help

Thanks for sharing bristow! They do look similar. Did yours start off solid black as a fuzzy chick? Mine has a black rose comb and slate legs. I will keep searching and let you know what I find out. :)
Questions543, I am thinking mix as well. She is not alone. She is just the only one I cannot identify the breed.

She *could* be a golden laced sebright. Though she is lacking some of the lacing, and appears very dark which makes me wonder.

Here is my golden sebright bantam hen. She also came from the TSC assorted bantam bin.

As a chick:

And full grown:

Good luck! Either way, it looks like she is a hen. She could maybe be some sort of old english game bantam?

Okay.. this chick doesn't look bantam sized to me.

The only bantams I can think of with rose combs do not look like her with black skin and black legs and gold in them...

If she came from a feed store it isn't likely she is a mutt.. Not impossible, but unlikely... Unless the feed store buys chicks from local people.

The one in the very first couple of pics look like a baby buzzard which even though the big ones are ugly the babies are kinda small and fuzzy

Sorry if that age died anyone if it did let me know and I will take it off
