Mystery Bantams

I got two bantams from a farmer. He is really a dishonest guy, and he's starting to get a bad reputation. Every chicken I got from his was sick, and two of them have died. Now I think whatever they have has spread to my whole flock, even though we've kept the birds quarantined.

Anyway, dishonest as he was, he didn't bother to tell us what these two were, how old they were, or anything. (He also said that they were healthy and made us pay extra because of that!

) Anyway, if at all possible, I want to know breed, gender, and approxiat age on these two little guys. Thank you! I've tried really ahrd, and I can't find anything like them anywhere. And if you have good names, you can throw those in, too.

the second 1 i think is a girl no idea what breed though but it could be mixed

Both of them look half black tailed japanese and half silver duckwing old english game bantam to me.

^Hmmm....that's an interesting theory. I think can see some SDW OEGB in them now that I think about it. Actually, we bought them for an SDW OEGB roo, so that would work out nicely, I think. I've never seen a Japanese Black-tail, though, so I have no idea if they are.

I'm going to be frank here. Why did you buy them if you are so dissatisfied with the seller? If there were sick birds there and the guy was selling birds anyways and you bought them, that's your fault, not his. Even if these 2 appear healthy, you really don't know for sure if they are healthy or not judging by the health of the other birds. Please, please, please make sure you have these quarantined and that you are using proper biosecurity measures. Did you ask questions about the birds? Always ask. If they don't have answers that sound "right", don't buy!
