Mystery Blood in Coop

So I didn’t think to take photographs before cleaning it up. I went to check for eggs yesterday and blindly put my hand in the box thought I hit poo. It when I pulled my hand out it was blood. I opened the big door and saw 3 fresh blood spots in 1 nest and a little one in another. I mean like you gashed your palm with a big knife amount of blood. We checked everyone. Comb to toes to booty. Not one spec of blood or any injuries at all. Could someone be sick?

Those would be more like puddles than spots.
But if you checked them all over, especially booties, and found nothing<shrugs>
It's alarming for sure...as I said earlier in thread, have found big fresh drops and no injury.

Yes little puddles I suppose
But it may have been absorbed by the shavings. My hand had blood all over my palm and fingers from reaching in. I thought something might have killed one of the birds. I think it could be my best marans, Dinah, as she usual lays everyday and has not in 4 days. I brought her in tonight and she seems normal but if it is contagious I would like to lower the risk. But she is just a hunch. I’ll call our avian vet in the AM. Just hoping for some ideas.

I've seen blood smears various places and have never found where it came from. I think their combs are so very rich in blood that, when injured, it bleeds profusely and then, since it has so much blood there, heals rather quickly, too.

With as much blood as you describe you'd think you'd have found some evidence on one of the birds. Hope they're all OK.

Still no sign. Crazy. But I bought Chris just in case. Keeping close watch on them all.
