She came from a "Mystery Box" (300 day old chicks, 60+ varieties). I got her yesterday as an 8 week old pullet. The seller thought Easter Egger. My niece immediately said Maran. I have to add Faverole as a possibility from research I did on line. She has feathered legs and 5 toes but I think that is possible on any of these three breeds. She is friendly, bold and obviously cute. Is there a defining characteristic I should be looking for?

5 toes, feathered feet, beard/muffs all fit a faverolle. Not sure what color skin they're supposed to have.

5 toed breeds: clean legged: houdan, dorking. Featherfoot: faverolle, silkie, sultan.

Anything else with 5 toes is a breed mix with one of the 5 breeds.

EE’s frequently do have beard/muffs, pea combs. They're also mixes of sometimes not even the breeder knows.

Marans: white skin, no beard/muffs, straight comb, 4 toes. French marans have feathered feet.

Thank you ruralmouse! With this information I am betting she is Faverolle which is a breed I have never seen before.
