I have this lovely new chick, except we know nothing of the gender, but more importantly the breed! We would love some help with finding this out and the forum is perfect for that

Thanks! I would love that breed, colored eggs would be cool.... it has straight (not uneven) wing feathers, I heard this could make it a roo. Is this correct? Some kind of Easter Egger or Olive Egger maybe?

That's what I thought, too, and those wings look short for a pullet. BUT my Welsummer stands upright, too, and even had really pink comb/wattles. And my BR, too. Thought for sure they were boys, but lo and behold...That's typically what that indicates, but only certain breeds have been selected for feather-sexing so it's not a surefire way to know. The chick stands like a cockerel to me though, and kind of looks like one in the face. It's way too early to know for sure but if I had twenty bucks to bet I know what gender I'd bet on.
We just got it today and it’s already flying up the water container I’m keeping it with a 11 week old silkie hen, would that be good for the baby or should I keep the chick alone with a heat lamp? That's what I thought, too, and those wings look short for a pullet. My brother got it from a elementary school that was selling them, so we are not sure of the actual breeder.Where did you get it? It doesn't look like a typical EE, but they can really look like anything so you can't rule it out either. The chick would need to be bred for feather sexing to be able to tell. So that doesn't really say anything either.
