Well, I decided to bring the lone dark chickie home. She/he was hatched alongside Golden Comets in a school and nobody knows how she/he ended up in the bunch. I'll include the original pictures and some I took after I got them home. (I also took one of the comet girls I hope 🤞) These two birds are so much calmer than my going-on-3-week RIRs.

They are 1-2 week old. Did I pick a golden pullet?

Input on mystery bird? Thoughts have been barred Plymouth or silver/gold laced wyandotte.

I'm not sure which farm they came from. I don't have the information or contact with the school. The school was told they were all golden comets 🤔🤷‍♀️

From the looks of it might be a
Silver Double Lace
Barnevelder Chick or a Bielefelde. If it’s a Barnevelder it’s probably a rooster because of the lack of lacing on the wings and lack of white ring around the eyes. But really at this stage is could be anything. If you know where the eggs came from, you can look at all the breeds they have and get a better idea.

It is definitely not a Bielefelder. They are barred and a completely different color pattern. Silver Barnevelders are quite uncommon so I very much doubt it could be one either. I bet it's a mixed breed but if on the slim chance it is pure, Silver Pencilled Rock is the closest breed. :)

More pics just for fun. I'm always taking them out of their brooder at least once a day if not more. Since about 2 and 1/2 to 3 weeks I've been trying to get them out at least once every other day to play in the grass and dig through my neglected flower bed. They all love perching on me and give minimal resistance to be picked up (unless they're preoccupied) but blackbird has a weird personality. The black bird turd bit me yesterday. Didn't just peck me, I'm used to that I have a lot of freckles and moles. It was more of a peck peck grab and yank your finger type of thing. All I did was cup my hand in front of the bird in case he wanted more stability while he was climbing all over my lap. I didn't even try to pick him up. All slow movements and didn't come in from above. Idk.... Anyway these picks are from today.

Ok some up-close head shots. Black speckled comb and pink under the chin. Going on 3 weeks I believe.
