Mystery Chick With Purple Ears? What Am I?

Thanks, everyone! Silver Spangled Hamburg it is! Too cool. Now to track down some SSH hatching eggs.....my bator just happens to have some room.....

Looks just like my Free chick I got from MMH too, now 5 weeks old. I was just getting ready to start a "guess my chick" thread too, but I agree with Silver Spangled Hamburg. What throws me off is that MMH didn't list them as Rare on their website. However, nothing else suggested here fits the comb type:

The rose comb is a fleshy, solid, tube-shaped comb that extends from the top of the beak to the back of the head, ending in a pointed spike. The front two-thirds of this comb is covered in small, round bumps.

Dominiques, Hamburgs, Red Caps, Sebrights, and Wyandottes have a rose comb. In several breeds, like Wyandottes, the spiked portion of the comb remains close to the head.

There are also "Rose Comb" breeds of Leghorns, Black and White Minorcas, Rhode Island Reds and Rhode Island Whites.

Here's mine... Note also the blue legs.

Also, maybe a pullet... Yours has a month on mine and the comb looks small and lighter (color in photo could be off though). Usually your free chicks are going to be left over males, but it's not entirely impossible that you could have gotten a girl.

SSH roos are gorgeous though, so a treat either way!

Wow, journey11, yours does look exactly like mine. I was thinking mine is a pullet, the comb is still small and not too much color. Especially, compared to yours at 5 weeks. Mine is a month older.

Thanks for posting the photo! I want to get some more of them, and being an impatient sort, I'll opt to hatch some myself if I can find some eggs. The last I checked most hatcheries are sold out of chicks.

I actually have an order to ship from MM on the 18th, I'll check and see if there have any SSH's. I placed the order over a month ago.

I appreciate everyone's input.

Twins, separated at birth!

You'll have to post a picture when she grows up!

I can't hardly wait to see this handsome roo scratching in my back yard.
