We got four black sexlinks and four “marans” from tractor supply. I asked what kind of maran but the employee didn’t know, he just said they came labeled maran. We lost one chick and I’m not sure which breed. We ended up with a rooster and it’s a cuckoo maran. So if you’re able to keep up with the math we have 6 layers now, but I’m not sure if we have 2 marans or 3. We ended up having slightly purple eggs show up in the coop. Pretty fun! We think maybe we’ve identified the layer, and I think it’s this gal. I think she escaped our notice because the feathers on her feet aren’t very prominent like the others. She doesn’t look like a sexlink but she’s definitely different looking than the other marans. Can anyone help identify? I’m wondering if we got some kind of cross. And if so, knowing we have a cuckoo roo, does that mean we just ended up with a maran assortment?
