Hello everybody!:frow
20 days ago I put 9 eggs into my incubator, 10 days ago I removed 8 of them. Leaving only 1 egg. The egg was large/white. Today at around 2:30pm it zipped and hatched completely within 15 minutes. The chick hatches and its white. I thought that was normal until it started walking around and it had leg feathers?? I dont have any chicken breeds that have leg feathers and lay WHITE eggs. I don't have two chickens of them same breed except for like 4 pairs, I have 28 chickens total. My two roosters are a splash silkie, and a blue ameraucauna with the black/splash gene present. I just dont understand how the chick hatched out of a white egg and has leg feathers?? Oh yea and it has five toes on each foot. SUPER CONFUSED..... help

:eek::he:barnie:hit

Also what do I do to make it not so lonely as it is the only to hatch. In a few weeks he's gonna go in with our turkey poults, 2 week old broad breasted whites.

Your splash Silkie mated your white eggs layer is what it sounds like... confirmed by the 5 toes. Post pics if your like!

Only one parent needs to be feather legged... seems like it was a dominant gene??

If it's completely hatched by day 20... very likely your bator is on the warm side.

Maybe you can pick up a chick friend at a local feed store for company?

I would not put a two week younger in with BBW poults.. to large of size discrepancy for my comfort level,

Thanks for quick replies! And how does one attach pictures to a reply? I have plenty of pictures just dont know how to share?

Wait I got it, here are pictures. I looked at the chick a few minutes ago and it had patches of grey, so possible a white layer hen/silkie cross?
