Mystery chicks

Chicksandplants! Look at this thread I stumbled upon from 2022! Seems our mystery chicks *could* be prairie bluebell eggers?! There's nothing said about 5 toes BUT they sure do look a lot like this chick which is supposably a PBB.

It does look a lot like them, but I think PBB are supposed to have pea combs? I’m very curious what our eggs will look like from them.. she (hopefully) just looks & acts so much like the Marans I’ve raised. Possibly a Mystic Onyx x some kind of Marans.. but then again, the yellow skin

definitely thinking they may have been an oops. They sure are cute though!

We are down to 6/12 of our latest chick batch. We kept 3 Mystic Onyx. The wacky unknown one still has white shoulder pads, and has quite the colorful sheen in the sun. The one missing the extra toes is getting gold hackles, and one is all black with a tuft. We kept our 2 Midnight Majesty Marans, they look very different, and one is like half of the size. Then we have the white one, still don’t know what she is, but so sweet. Hopefully all pullets

4/6 big ladies are able to mingle with them. 2 of them have some manner learning to do. Almost 6 weeks!

Update- almost 10weeks old. We rehomed one MMM and one MO (last 2 pics) yesterday. I was hoping for a tufted, all black MO, so we kept that one, pictured with our 19 week old BCM Pullet. She is huge. We kept the weirdo MO who looks more Marans like to me, and has a very rainbow sheen. I think the white one is a leghorn? She’s sweet, kept her… & then we kept the very petite MMM. They have been integrated with the older flock for a few weeks now. Our BCM follows the babies everywhere, even though she was kind of a brat to them to begin.

The 15 week old gals. Nila & Chip (the leghorn & marans) are both very petite and so sweet. They purrrrr and are chatty when giving them pets.

Sonic & Tails (the Mystic Onyx) are not my favorite, the tuft one is a BULLY. Oddball is so skittish. They are oh so beautiful in the sunshine though!
