On June 3rd I had a chick that was acting strangely, they were a Speckled Sussex pullet, a little over a week old (they came from a hatchery). They were standing still, wings fanned out, and wouldn't extend her neck at all. I tried looking for posts with similar symptoms, found one that suggested a crop impaction. Long story short, she died the next morning despite my efforts.
Now, almost a month later, a 1 week old chick has started acting the same way. They were hatch by a hen (3rd or 4th in the pecking order, if that matters), they're a midnight majesty maran/silkie hybrid. I know she will probably be dead by tomorrow...this was my first time hatching chicks, and she was certainly my favorite bird...
Video of recent chick
Does anyone have any idea what this disease/illness is? Or how I can prevent this in the future?
EDIT: I picked them up again and they seemed to be making gasping motions. Is it...gapeworm?
