I bought some duck eggs from a display in a local outdoor restuarant, and took them home to see if any were fertile. About half were. So far, only Lemon has seen fit to break out of her shell. I think the remainder are Muscovies, and will hopefully hatch out this weekend. But what variety could Lemon be? I am no expert on ducks, this is my first time. I realize she's too young to identify definitively, but I'm wondering what the candidate varieties would be. With her solid yellow body (no gray or black) and white highlights on her face and breast, I'm guessing a white Pekin. But there are undoubtedly other breeds which have ducklings that look like her. Can you suggest what other breeds she might turn out to be?

OK, found a couple other candidates. White Call Ducks and White Indian Runners. Also Aylesbury and White Crested and Bali Ducks. Of course, this assumes the duckling isn't a cross breed, which may or may not be the case. But am I missing any others?

I would have thought maybe pekin but does have a smaller beak. So maybe it could be a cross but my best guess is probably white layer

If the rest are muscovy and this one turns out being mallard derived, you will want to get another mallard derived breed to be friends with it as they speak a different language than muscovy
