Mystery egg in coop???

I mentioned pigeon, because I have many wild pigeons in the bigger barn next to the barn/coop for the chickens.
I have so much wildlife on my 5 acres, I have 3 dove nests that I know about, 3 robin nests, and 7 finch nests. I also have 2 massive nests up in the pine trees on my property, and in the summer at night I can hear 2 to 3 owls if I'm lucky (like a few times a month)

That's cool that you are so aware of the wildlife around you that you know where the nests are. ❤ I know there IS wildlife all around us, but I wouldn't be THAT aware of it. I don't get out in it that much. Old and decrepit here, lol. 😆 I'm doing good to interact with my chickens. We have bluejays, woodpeckers, cardinals, mourning doves, juncos, wild turkeys, deer, hummingbirds, etc. Yes, finches, wrens, swallows and probably some I am forgetting. Oh, and buzzards, crows and rarely eagles. I can see them but not follow them to their nests. Other wildlife too, less welcome but part of nature.

ETA: And yes, owls!

One of my black giants that usually lays double yolkers once laid something the size of my fist. When I cracked it open thinking it was a double i got a huge surprise. It was an egg in a egg. Yea a whole other shell with the yolk and stuff. The outer shell had watery stuff in it. I have not ever seen anything like that before and she hasn't laid another either

Chickens lay weird things sometimes!

The egg I found was much smaller and a very different color, than the chicken eggs. Now I'm pretty sure it WAS a pigeon egg. I have seen one pigeon in the hens coop before, probably wanting chicken feed.
